Jack Dean Leonard, 83, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, at a local nursing home facility.
Jack was born in Jackson on July 3 1941, a son to the Homer S. and Ceola (Knight) Leonard.
Jack was a 1961 graduate of Ironton High School and attended Urbana College for four years in 1977.
He proudly served his county for 30 years in the United State Army, retiring as a sergeant major.
Jack moved to Ironton in 1994, he was a member of the VFW Past State Commander for three years, the Moose, the Elks for 30 years and was given a life time membership to the AMVET and VFW.
In addition to Jack’s parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, James Leonard; another son, Jason Leonard; and brother, Charles Leonard.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Lori Ann Link, of Greenup, Kentucky; grandson, Jase Leonard; sister, Sheila Combs, of Columbus; and special friend, Brett Layne.
Visitation will be noon–2 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton.
Burial will follow at a later date in Fairmount Cemetery, Jackson. Military honors will be provided after the visitation at the funeral home.
