A special needs youth fishing event and accolades for EMS in Lawrence County headlined the Sept. 10 Lawrence County Commissioners meeting.
Commissioner Mike Finley thanked Dave Bennett for providing ice for a special needs youth fishing event.
“We had a great event,” he said. “We had 60-some people. They gave us ice and propane. I was able to cook hotdogs. You can always count on Dave. Shop local.”
Finley said the children who attended had “a great time.”
“Good food,” he said. “A lot of kids got to catch a lot of fish—lots of nice fish. We filleted them out.”
Commissioner DeAnna Holliday added to what Commissioner Colton Copley and Finley had previously said during the meeting about EMS in Lawrence County.
“Thank you to the EMS and your leadership that you’re providing right now,” she said. “Any time there’s a change in a directorship or leadership—sometimes that can be a little tough. It seems things are so smooth. We appreciate that.”
Holliday said that is what the commissioners were hoping would be the case.
“Thanks for stepping up to the plate and leading our organization forward,” she said. “It’s such a phenomenal organization. There’s such a great foundation there and we know it’s in good hands. We appreciate that.”
