Fairland quarterback Ethan Wall was intercepted on the first play of the game by Rock Hill’s Anthony Stamper.

But the Redmen couldn’t capitalize and when the Dragons got the ball back they began to roll as they posted a 49-14 Ohio Valley Conference win on Friday.

The unbeaten Dragons (4-0, 1-0) had 372 total yards as Wall completed 23-of-26 passes for 204 yards and a pair of touchdowns to go with the interception.

Keegan Smith had a big game with 9 receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown while Jack Hayden caught 7 passes for 56 yards and a score.

Fairland had 168 yards rushing with Lucas Bompus running 3 times for 77 yards and 2 touchdowns. Kam Kitts had 9 rushes for 31 yards and 3 scores.

Rock Hill (3-1, 0-1) was off to its first 3-0 start since 2016 but struggled offensively.

The Redmen managed just 109 total yards with 92 coming on the ground. Stamper ran 18 times for 92 yards and both Rock Hill touchdowns.

After the opening play, Rock Hill got a first down but was forced to punt. Fairland took over at its own 26-yard line and covered the distance in 6 plays including an 8-yard pass from Wall to Hayden for the touchdown.

Aiden Miller kicked the conversion and it was 7-0 at the 8:11 mark.

The Redmen ran 5 plays before being forced to punt and Preston Malone booted a 59-yard kick to the 3-yard line.

Fairland took 16 plays to complete the drive as Kitts ran the final 3 yards and Miller’s kick pushed the lead to 14-0 with 11:25 on the clock.

Stamper took the ensuing kickoff and returned it from the 8-yard line to the Fairland 18. Stamper carried half of the 6 plays needed to score including the final 4 yards. Rylan Barker kicked the conversion and the Redmen were just down 14-7 with 8:25 left in the half.

The Dragons answered with a 65-yard, 11-play drive that culminated on a 6-yard TD run by Kitts and it was 21-7 with 3:53 left in the half.

Rock Hill quickly went 3-and-out and Fairland had the ball at their own 47.

Walls hit Kitts for 15 yards, ran for 4 more, dumped off a short pass-and-run to Quentin Cremeans and then found Smith wide open in the end zone on a blown coverage and the lead was 28-7 with 1:20 left in the half.

Fairland pooched its kickoff to begin the second half to avoid Stamper but the Redmen failed to cover the ball and the Dragons fell on it at the Rock Hill 30-yard line.

Wall and Smith teamed up on a 12-yard pass to the 2 when Kitts scored on the next play and it was 35-7.

A short Rock Hill punt and 22-yard return by Smith gave Fairland the ball in enemy territory at the 34. On the next play, Bompus raced 34 yards for the score and a 42-7 lead,

Another Rock Hill punt gave Fairland the ball at the Redmen 43. Bompus was stopped for no gain on first down but bolted down the sidelines on the next play as he ran into the end zone for a 49-7 lead with one minute left in the third quarter.

Rock Hill capped the scoring with a 56-yard drive in 8 plays with Stamper running for 50 of the yards including the final yard for the touchdown with 8:33 left.

Next Friday, Fairland goes to Gallipolis and Rock Hill will host South Point.
