Ironton In Bloom announces the August Yard of the Month designation goes to Mark and Andrea Harvey, 1915 S. Sixth St. The couple received the award in 2008, the group’s first year in existence.
Sixteen years of creating a beautiful landscape complete with a variety of flowers, flowering and non-flowering shrubs, and pine trees to offer balance to the landscape deserves a second selection.
The flower beds are edged with the original house bricks left over after they altered a portion of their home.
Andrea plans the beds based on what flowers flourished in the previous year. They both dig, mulch, trim, and water. Andrea awakes before 6 a.m. and waters the back patio area and Mark the front porch and lawn.
A history of 20 years of creating beauty has brought both joy and the feeling of shared accomplishment and highlights our goal of “Making Ironton a better place to live, work, and play.”
