 PRE-GAME NOTES

Saturday’s game will be the first for Marshall in the ‘Safe To Stay With The Herd’ initiative, which incorporates enhancements in both gameday security and fan experience.

Gates will open two hours prior to kickoff where fans can enjoy the “Two Buck Blitz”, which is an array of $2 concession deals on hot dogs, popcorn and fountain drinks that are good for an hour – from 2 hours to 1 hour prior to every kickoff. There are also several fan enhancement areas and food truck availability that will make for an improved gameday experience for fans. To see more on the enhancements for 2024, call 1-800-THE-HERD.

 ABOUT MARSHALL

Marshall comes into the 2024 season with a seven-year bowl streak in-tact after getting six wins and advancing to the 2023 Frisco Bowl last season.

Head coach Charles Huff is in his fourth season leading the program and has compiled a 22-17 record, which includes wins over No. 8 Notre Dame in 2022 and Virginia Tech in 2023.

The 2024 Thundering Herd features 45 new players, including a pair of new quarterbacks in Tulsa transfer Braylon Braxton and North Texas transfer Stone Earle.

Those quarterbacks will help lead a new Air Raid offense, brought in by new offensive coordinator Seth Doege. Doege is one of six new assistant coaches on the Marshall staff this season.

Offensively, the Herd is led by Campbell Trophy nominee Logan Osburn at center, along with running back Ethan Payne. Defensively, the Herd features defensive end Mike Green and safety J.J. Roberts as key returnees.

ABOUT STONY BROOK

Stony Brook is an NCAA FCS Subdivision member that plays in the Colonial Athletic Association.

The Seawolves are led by first-year coach Billy Cosh, who will make his debut as a head coach on Saturday. Cosh is no stranger to the Mountain State, however, having served as Concord’s quarterbacks coach in 2015.

Cosh is the son of Chris Cosh, who coached briefly with Marshall head coach Charles Huff at Maryland between the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

Stony Brook comes into Joan C. Edwards Stadium in search of snapping a 12-game losing streak that dates back to a 24-22 win over Morgan State on Nov. 5, 2022. The team went 0-10 last season.

One player for the Seawolves will be making a return home this week as transfer Chance Knox, a Charleston native and Capital H.S. grad, is projected to start at wide receiver for Stony Brook.
