William Joseph Thompson, 81, of Pedro, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at his residence.
He was born in Huntington, West Virginia on Nov. 3, 1942 and was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Joseph R. and Deanna Thompson and his mother and step-father, Velma (Rice) Hall and Oliver Hall Jr.
He attended Ashland City Schools and has lived his life in Ashland, Kentucky, Florida and Lawrence County.
He was a member of the Ironton Eagles, Ashland Eagles and Ashland America Legion.
William retired in 1975 from the Painters Local Union in Ashland, Kentucky.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Russell Thompson, Jim Thompson and Roger Thompson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his companion, Sandy Sizemore, of Pedro; two sons, William “Russ” Thompson and James Sizemore; daughter, Amanda Tucker; five grandchildren, Brooklyn Sizemore, Justin Drumm, Calob Drumm, Hazel Sizemore and Brandon Tucker; his sister, Teresa Wells, of Cincinnati; and three brothers, Jon Thompson, of Paris, Tennessee, Jack Thompson, of Williamsport, Tennessee, and Bernie Rickman, of Indiana.
Funeral service will be noon Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St. Ironton, with Rev. Tom Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Furnace Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6–8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
