Lawrence County Commissioners have short meeting

In what was a quick meeting of the Lawrence County Commissioners on Tuesday, Commission President Dr. Colton Copley, Commission Vice President DeAnna Holliday, and Commissioner Mike Finley:
• Approved four new floodplain permits submitted by the Soil and Water Conservation District—for DY Trust/TY Trust for a filling and grading project at 4988 County Road 29; Garrett Crawford for a stream-maintenance project at 6241 County Road 16; Joshua and Sara B. Taylor for filling, grading, and stream maintenance projects at 15903 State Route 775; and Ice Creek Land Company for filling, grading, and bridge projects on County Road 181.
• Appointed Mike Finley to the Lawrence County Land Bank, with Finley abstaining in the vote.
• Approved and signed the sub-grant award agreement for the Lawrence Drug and Major Crimes Task Force for July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, submitted by David Marcum of the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office.
• Approved, received, and filed the correspondence regarding public road petition-vacation of Township Road 1292 in Rome Township.
• Approved the amendment of Lawrence County’s complaint in the national opioid litigation to include pharmacy benefit managers such as Express Scripts and Optum RX, which will allow the county’s litigation to move forward, requested by Brigham Anderson, Lawrence County Prosecuting Attorney.
• Mentioned the legislative day at the capital scheduled for May 15, the fishing derby at Wayne National Forest today, Rock Hill students fishing at Wayne National Forest this week, and the scheduling of the EMS week picnic during the week of Memorial Day.
• Entered into executive session to meet with Dylan Bentley regarding personnel, hire, fire and reprimand.
The next meeting of the Lawrence County Commissioners is at 11 a.m. on Tuesday on the third floor of the Lawrence County Courthouse.
