Lady Hornets, Redmen take D3 district track titles

NELSONVILLE — The Ohio Valley Conference track champions added a district title to their trophy case.
The Coal Grove Lady Hornets rolled to the Division 3 district championship with 117 points with Leesburg Fairfield the runner-up at 89 points.
The Rock Hill Redmen had 76 points to win the meet with North Adams the runner-up with 63 points.
Both Coal Grove and Rock Hill won league titles again this season and they added the district titles on Friday in the Division 3 district track meet.
Coal Grove’s boys finished 9th among the 28 teams with 28.33 points.
The top four finishers in each event qualify for the regional meet to be held Wednesday and Friday at Heath High School.
In the girls’ relays, Coal Grove’s foursome of Alyssa Thibodauz, Kylie Montgomery, Alivia Noel and Olivia Kingrey ran a blistering 1:48.89 time to win the 4×200.
The Lady Hornets 4×100 team also took first place as Thibodau, Montgomery, Laura Hamm and Madison McDaniel won in 50.70 seconds.
The Lady Hornets’ quartet ran a time of 4:09.48 in the 4×400 race as Thibodaux, Kingrey, Montgomery and Laura Hamm combined to take first place.
McDaniel posted a time of 47.11 to win the 300-meter hurdles. Green’s Matti Hayslip was seventh at 52.73 seconds.
McDaniel also took first place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.45 seconds and she was second in the 200 meters at 26.32 seconds. Kingrey was third at 12.8 seconds.
Green’s Natalie Butler was 8th in the 200 meters at 28:31.
Montgomery claimed first place in the 400 meters with a 59.08 time.
Hamm took first place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:21.14 and she also finished second in the 1600 meters with a 5:29.28 clocking.
Green Lady Bobcats’ Sydney Bainer was eighth in the 3200 with a time of 13:35.15.
In the 4×800 relay, Kalli Vanderhoof, Regan Jiles, Allana Pemberton and Amelia Laney were 8th with a time of 11:49.80.
The Lady Hornets Isabelle Wynn was second in the discus with a toss of 112-5.
Teammate Klara Klaiber heaved the shot put 34-feet to finish third.
The Lady Hornets Allie Stallard was fifth in the pole vault at 8-4 while Kylie Myers was 7th in the high jump at 4-10.
Leading the Redmen were led by junior Izaak Cox with 3 first place finishes. Cox had a leap of 22-4 to win the long jump, a height of 6-2 to win the high jump, and he had a time of 22.41 in the 200 meters to take first place.
Cox also finished fourth in the 100 meters with an 11.24 time. Coal Grove’s Kaden Murphy was fifth at 11.28 seconds.
Rock Hill teammate Sam Rusk who cleared 11-8 to win the pole vault.
Coal Grove’s Landon Roberts was third at 11-4 and Logan Roberts was fourth at 10-8 as both qualified for the regional meet.
Rock Hil’s Nathaniel Hackworth went 10-4 and paced fifth.
Landon Roberts tied for 8th place with a jump of 5-8.
Green’s Brice Chaney was seventh in the discus with a toss of 121-1. Rock Hill’s Daniel Medinger was 8th with a throw of 120-4.
In the relays, Coal Grove’s team of Kaden Murphy, Rylan Smith, Seth Hamm and Owen Johnson ran a 3:35.98 to finish fourth and qualify for the regional meet.
Rock Hill was fifth as Ben Simpson, Dylan Griffith, Cameron Stevens and Dakotah Sanders ran a 3:36.75
Rylan Barker, Aaron Workman, Stevens and Griffith combined to finish 7th in the 4×200 with a time of 1:37.23.
The Hornets Gavin Gipson was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.95 seconds.
Rock Hill’s Nixon Snavely was second in the 1600 meters to get a regional berth in that event. He was 5th in the 3200 run with a clocking of 9:52.98.
Hamm gave the Hornets a 6th place finish in the 800 as he ran a time of 2:01.04
