ASHLAND, Ky. — This was one for the books,

Jon Knapp threw a no-hitter and the Green Bobcats used 5 errors to score 6 unearned runs in an 8-0 win over the St. Joseph Flyers on Thursday,.

The win gives Green the Southern Ohio Conference 1 title outright. The Flyers needed a win to throw the title into a 3-way tie.

“We haven’t been playing well the past couple of weeks and it caught up with us today. You can’t make five errors, especially against a good team and a good pitcher,” said Flyers’ coach Greg Bryant.

“But you have to give credit to Knapp. He’s pitched a really good game. He’s one of the better pitchers in this area.”

Knapp struck out 9 and did not walk a batter. However, he did hit 3 batters and the Bobcats had 2 errors.

Green is now 14-5 and 9-1 in the SOC. St. Joseph fell to 14-4 and finished 7-3 in the league.

After a scoreless first inning, the Bobcats took a 3-0 lead in the second.

With one out, Braxton Conshafsky singled, stole second, went to third on a passed ball and scored when Landon Kimber reached on an error.

After a strikeout, Mason Neal was safe on an error as Kimbler scored. Nathaniel Brannigan and Blake Smith both singled for a run.

Green came back with 3 more runs in the third inning.

A dropped third strike allowed Knapp to reach and then Quentin Merrill and Gabe Blevins singled for a run.

Following a strikeout, Kimbler singled to send Merrill home.

Green tracked on a pair of runs in the sixth.

With one out, Ace Thomson singled and pinch-runner Liam McDavid went to second on a throwing error. Neal got an infield hit and the runners moved up on a wild pitch.

Brannigan reached on an error as the runners scored.
