James Cochran

James H. “Buddy” Cochran, 86, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley Ironton.
Buddy was born April 20, 1937, the son of the late Charles Cochran and the late Ruth (Shope) Frazer.
Buddy graduated from Rock Hill High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He worked at Gulf Chemical, Tiger Metals and Ironton Iron.
Buddy was of Baptist faith, saved and baptized by Reverend Charles Click.
He enjoyed working in his garden, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Junie Cochran and Lawrence Frazer; sisters, Teresa Frazer, Mary Cochran and Marlean Cochran; brothers-in-law, Walt Delong, Jeff Carty; sister-in-law, Sue Frazer.
Survivors include children, James (Terri) Cochran, Julia (Greg) Newkirk, Tim (Trina) Cochran and Greg (Jessica) Cochran; mother of his four children, Anna Lee Cochran Akers; his significant other of many years, Judy Delong; sisters, Sharon Delong, Vicki (Jay) Lehman and Sandy Frazer; brothers, Keith (Susan) Frazer, Rick (Rose) Frazer, Bill (Sherry) Cochran, John Cochran, Ed Cochran and Ronnie Cochran; grandchildren, Brandon (Brittany) Swartzwelder, Mandy (Derek) Moore, Megan (Derek) Tripp, Sarah (Justin) Hyland, Staci (Ryan) Sias, Kristen Cochran, Chelsa Cochran, Timothy (Katie) Kincaid, Zachary Cochran, Greg Cochran Jr., Eli Cochran and Lezah Cochran; 22 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home, with Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery soldier’s plot.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral.
