OAK HILL — Last week’s storm may have knocked out power along the Ohio River, but the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings restored it on Wednesday.

Marley Ferguson clubbed 3 home runs including a grand slam and Desiree Simpson belted a home run as the Lady Vikings blanked the Oak Hill Lady Oaks 15-0 in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“We hit the ball well  as a team, especially Ferguson, Tibbs and Simpson,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep. “It’s nice to be able to score a bunch of runs all on one swing of the bat.”

Ferguson went 4-4 with a double, 3 home runs and she drove in 8 runs. Brenna Tibbs was 4-4 and Simpson was 2-2 with a home run and 4 RBI.

Tibbs and Addy Hawk combined on a 2-hitter. Tibbs gave up one hit in 3 innings, struck out 9 and walked 2 to get the win. Hawk allowed a hit, struck out 4 and walked one.

Savannah Mart was 1-2, Addi Ridenour 2-2, Emma Ridenour 1-2 with a double and Kaycee Thompson 1-4 with an RBI.

Symmes Valley (8-5, 3-1) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning.

Emma Ridenour led off with a double, Tibbs singled and Simpson smacked with a 3-run homer. Ferguson followed with a solo home run, Savannah Mart was hit by a pitch, Addi Ridenour walked, they moved up on a wild pitch and Thompson grounded as Mart scored.

The Lady Vikings scored 3 more runs in the second with one out.

Tibbs singled, stole second and Simpson had an RBI single. Ferguson doubled and Mart singled her home. A throwing error scored the final run.

The lead went to 11-0 in the third when Tibbs singled, Simpson was hit by a pitch and Ferguson drilled a 3-run homer.

The Lady Vikings capped the scoring with 2 outs in the fourth inning.

Emma Ridenour walked, Tibbs singled, Simpson walked to load the bases and Ferguson belted a grand slam.

Charissa Krannitz and Brynlee Strickley were 1-2 for Oak Hill (1-4, 0-1).
