Four Tri-State dance schools are coming together on Saturday to host a day-long dance competition at Ironton High School.
Yvonne Sinnott, owner of the Yvonne DeKay School of Dance, in Ironton, said her school is hosting the event, along with Cyndi’s Dance Studio, of Ironton, Nancy’s School of Dance, of Proctorville, and Dance With Hope, of Grayson, Kentucky.
Sinnott said there are 98 entries in the event and participants will range in age from 5 to 18.
She said the event will begin with twirling entries, then at about 12:30 p.m., the dance entrants will begin.
The event will run into evening, with awards set for the end of the show.
Sinnott said they organized the event in order to have a regional option, sparing schools the expense of having to travel long distances for competitions.
She said they also wanted to give back to the community and they are making space available at the event for local band boosters and other groups to fund raise.
“It’s for everyone to get to know each other,” she said. “And do something for the community.”
Tickets for the event, which will take place in the school’s auditorium, are $5 and are available at the door.
