PORTSMOUTH — The Fairland Dragons must have found an energy drink that worked.

After playing Friday night, the Dragons faced Dayton Northridge at 4 p.m. on Saturday in the Shawnee State Shootout and found enough energy to edge the Polar Bears 52-49.

A big part of energy was provided by Will Davis with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals. Brody Buchanan had 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

Chase Allen scored all 7 of his points and Davis 4 as Fairland took a 14-13 first quarter lead.

Adreyan Davis scored 6 points for Northridge.

Peyton Jackson scored 4 points and Trevor Lochow hit a 3-pointer as Fairland extended its lead to 27-23 at the half.

Four different players scored for the Polar Bears with Quente Williams getting 4 points.

Buchanan knocked down a 3-pointer and scored 7 point and Davis added a trey as Fairland upped its lead to 39-34 after the third quarter.

Williams had 4 more points for Northridge.

Buchanan was 3-of-4 and Jackson 2-of-2 from the foul line in the fourth quarter with Buchanan adding a basket and Davis getting 4 points as the Dragons held on for the win.

Jayden Martin scored 6 points and Deonte Smith 4 for Northridge.

The Polar Bears were 5-of-8 from the foul line in the quarter but were just 9-of-19 for the game.

Northridge (7-6) was led by Sirrell Alexander with 10 points while Williams and Smith had 9 each.
