NEW BOSTON — Forget “Hold On Tight To Your Dreams,” by ELO. Make that “Hold On Tight To Your Lead.”

The Symmes Valley Vikings built a 16-point lead and held on to beat the New Boston Tigers 59-53 on Tuesday.

The Vikings (3-4) took a 13-6 lead in they first quarter as Ethan Smith scored 9 points.

Symmes Valley extended the lead to 30-18 at halftime as Aydan Taylor hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 10 points.

Devin Allard had a trey and scored 7 points for New Boston (2-5).

Will Jones scored 7 points on a 3-pointer and 2-of-2 from the foul line as the Vikings opened up a 46-30 lead.

But New Boston mounted a furious rally in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Vikings 23-13 in the fourth quarter as Allard scored 11 points including a 3-pointer with Lamarcus Parker drilling a pair of 3-pointers.

But Jacob Cade and Logan Simpkins scored 5 points each and combined to make 4-of-6 from the foul line to help the Vikings hold on for the win.

Smith had 15 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals while Cade had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Vikings. Taylor finished with 11 points and Jones had 9 point, 8 rebounds and 3 assists.

Allard scored a game-high 27 points and Parker added 12 to pace the Tigers.

The Vikings play at Oak Hill on Friday.
