Ora “Luella” Turvey, 92, of Coal Grove, Ohio passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her grandchildren.
The Lawrence County native was born Dec. 1, 1931, the daughter of the late Henry and Alberta Nance Reed.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Basil Turvey and most recently her daughter, Gloria Crank.
Luella attended Coal Grove High School and retired from Lawrence County Medical Center where she worked as a nurse’s aid for over 23 years.
She was a member of Campbell Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
She had two brothers, John and Charles Reed; and three sisters, Mary Hockenberry, Wanda Morris and Bertha Stumbo.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy (James) Massie, of Kitts Hill, and son-in-law, Jim Crank, three grandchildren, Billee Jean (Joe) Butcher, Jim (Tara) Crank, Jonathan Cline; and four great grandchildren, Ethan Crank, Nateli Butcher, Olivia Crank and Ella Butcher.
She left a lifetime of memories behind for her family and friends.
Her legacy will be one of loving God and serving others.
Her quick wit and homemade pies will be greatly missed.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to her special nephew, J.D. Scott, and the Community Hospice team.
Funeral services will be noon Tuesday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with Wes Moore officiating.
Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
