Vikings can’t hold lead in loss to Titans

PORTSMOUTH — Get some stick ‘em spray.
The Symmes Valley Vikings took a halftime lead but lost their grip and couldn’t hold on as they lost 48-41 to the Portsmouth Notre Dame Titans on Friday.
The game was 7-all after the first quarter only to have the Vikings go up 21-16 at the half.
But the Titans scored 9 unanswered points to begin the second half and went out to a 33-29 lead.
Notre Dame outscored the Vikings 15-12 in the final quarter to clinch the win.
Cody Metzler scored 15 points and Landon Barbarits 10 for the Titans (1-1).
Ayden Taylor led the Vikings with 15 points. Jacob Cade pulled down 11 rebounds while Ethan Smith had 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals for the Vikings (2-2).
The Vikings shot 16-of-48 from the field for 33 percent including just 4-of-21 from behind the arc for 19 percent.
Symmes Valley shot 5-of-11 from the foul line to the Titans’ 4-fo-6.
