Douglas Fisher

Dec. 7, 2023–April 11, 1955

Douglas Edward Fisher, 68, of Ironton, passed away Dec. 7, 2023, at his home.

He was born April 11, 1955, a son of the late H. Don and Belden (Corn) Fisher.

A 1975 graduate of Ironton High School, he held many positions through the years, from the fast food industry to gauging barges.

He was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church.

Doug never met a stranger and he could talk with anyone about anything.

He had many interests and was a self-proclaimed hippie and lover of Jesus, cats, a music collector, a guitar player, a swimmer, a flower gardener, a walker and workouts.

He taught himself to play the guitar and often wrote songs to share his love of Jesus in his church and wherever he was invited to sing.

He was a great lover of music.

Even with very limited mobility, he loved planting flowers and caring for his garden.

He was an avid Ironton Fighting Tigers fan and would often be seen at football games and basketball games (boys and girls) in his tiger gear and orange headband.

Survivors include his brothers, Dick (Debbie) and Dan Fisher; nieces, Amy (Allen) Perry, Traci Fisher and Laura Fisher; nephews, Mickey (Julie Cardia) Fisher and Daniel Fisher; great-nieces, Macy Perry, Olivia Fisher, and Jayceana Boykin, and great-nephews; Shawn Paul Cosby, Mattox Perry and Braxton Wilkes.

Additional survivors include his church family, cousins, and friends too numerous to count.

Funeral was Monday at noon at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home with Darrell Ford officiating.

Burial was in Woodland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Assembly of God Church or the Harvest for the Hungry Food Pantry in Ironton.
