Homer Haynes

Dec. 9, 1944– March 18, 2020

Homer Douglas Haynes, 75, of Franklin Furnace, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Ironton. The Ironton native was born Dec. 9, 1944, the son of the late George and Aretta Valentine Haynes.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann (Adkins) Haynes, who passed away July 15, 2016.

Mr. Haynes was a 1962 graduate of Rock Hill High School and a former truck driver and mechanic for the Lawco Disposal. Homer enjoyed music and playing many different instruments. He also enjoyed taking care of his wife and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Juanita Mullins, Florinne Bailey, Corrine Logdson and Diane Spillman; and five brothers, Jimmy Kelley, Oakie Haynes, Alva Haynes, Arley Haynes and George Haynes Jr.

He is survived by three daughters, Sherri Borghese, Jo Ann (Scott) Massie and Melissa (Brian) Hughes; five grandchildren, Tiffany (Andrew) Nickles, Jeffery Massie, Tyler Hughes, Alex Hughes and Tony Borghese; a great-grandson, Carter Hughes; and two sisters, Rosalie Bailey and Charlotte Botkins.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 S. Sixth St., Ironton. Burial will follow at Haverhill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Jeanetta Smith

Jeanetta Smith, 82, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Sunday, March 15, 2020 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. The service scheduled for Saturday at the church has been canceled. Private family funeral services will be held at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

Billy Ball

Billy C. Ball, 92, of South Point, died on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at his residence.

Visitation will be 11 a.m.–1 p.m. Saturday, at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton.
