Balance Lady Pointers beat Lady Panthers

CHESAPEAKE — You have to have balance in your life. Just ask the South Point Lady Pointers.
South Point had three players in double figures as they got past the Chesapeake Lady Panthers 45-36 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.
Diamond Crawley scored 11 points with Emilee Whitt and Maddy Khounlavong scoring 10 each for the Lady Pointers (14-8, 9-5).
Blake Anderson had 12 points and Taylor Hicks scored 11 for Chesapeake (11-11, 5-9).
South Point took an 11-7 first quarter lead as Khounlavong, Crawley and Emilee Carey each hit 3-pointers. Hicks had a trey for Chesapeake.
The Lady Panthers cut the deficit to 19-16 at the half as Maddie Ward scored 4 points and the Lady Panthers were 3-of-4 at the foul line.
Carey had 5 points as she and Khounlavong each hit 3-pointers.
The Lady Pointers opened up a 33-21 lead by outscoring Chesapeake 14-5 in the third quarter.
Whitt, Kimrie Staley and Khounlavong all had 4 points each. Blake Anderson had all 5 of Chesapeake’s points.
In the fourth quarter, Hicks scored 8 points as she drained a pair of 3-pointers, Anderson added a triple and Sammie McComas scored 4 points as Chesapeake mounted a comeback.
But Whitt and Crawley scored 6 points each as the Lady Pointers held on for the win.
UP NEXT: In sectional tournament play at Lucasville Valley, Chesapeake plays Fairfield at 3:45 p.m. Sunday while South Point plays Chillicothe Huntington at 8 p.m. Thursday.
