Execution key in Lady Tigers’ win

The offensive timely was smooth which meant the scoring found its groove.
The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers’ had one of their best efforts with offensive execution as they beat the Chesapeake Lady Panthers 62-27 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.
“We had excellent ball movement and we had good timing on our cuts, flashes and passes. We executed really well,” said Ironton coach Doug Graham.
Ironton (13-2, 8-2) had three players in double figures as Samantha LaFon scored 13, Lexie Arden 11 points and Riley Schreck hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 10 points.
Emily Duncan had 8 points and Blake Anderson 7 points for Chesapeake.
Schreck hit a pair of trifectas, Elli Williams hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points while Arden added a pair of baskets and Ironton raced to a 21-10 first quarter lead.
Anderson had 4 points for Chesapeake.
The Lady Fighting Tigers kept their foot on the gas in the second quarter as they outscored the Lady Panthers 19-8 to open up a 40-18 halftime cushion.
Lydia Hannan hit a trey and scored 5 points while Scheck, Arden and LaFon all had 4 points each in the quarter.
Duncan scored 5 points including a 3-pointer for the Chesapeake.
The Lady Panthers (6-8, 4-6) went stone cold from the field in the third quarter as they failed to score and Ironton took advantage to extend its lead to 55-18.
Elli Williams, Teegan Carpenter and Arden all hit 3-pointers and LaFon had 6 points to pace Ironton in the quarter.
Isabel Morgan came off the bench to score all 7 Ironton points in the fourth quarter including 5-of-6 at the foul line.
Duncan made a 3-pointer for Chesapeake.
Ironton host Chillicothe on Monday and Chesapeake visits Grace Christian on Saturday.
