PORTSMOUTH — The Green Lady Bobcats doubled their pleasure and doubled their fun when they doubled their scoring.
The Lady Bobcats placed four players in double figures as they beat the Portsmouth Clay Lady Panthers 57-50 in a Southern Ohio Conference game Monday.
Kasey Kimbler had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Anna Knapp just missed a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. She also had two blocked shots.
Kame Sweeney got 13 points, seven rebounds, three steals and four assists, Kim Brown scored 10 points and Charli Blevins handed out five assists.
Shaley Munion hit four 3-pionters and scored 18 points for Clay (0-3, 0-2). Sophia Gatti added 10 points.
Kimbler had 7 points and she and Knapp each hit 3-pointers in the first quarter to give Green a 13-10 lead.
Sweeny and Knapp had 5 points each in the second quarter — Knapp hit another 3-pointer — and the Lady Bobcats extended their lead to 28-20 at the half.
Munion had a pair of 3-pointers for Clay in the quarter.
Green (2-0, 1-0) moved ahead 40-27 in the third quarter as Knapp, Kimbler and Sweeney combined for all 12 points.
The Lady Bobcats converted 7-of-12 from the foul line in the fourth quarter — Brown was 4-for-4 — to help withstand 23 points by Clay as they made five 3-pointers in the quarter.
Green hosts St. Joseph on Thursday.
