Dr. Phillip Malone

Surrounded by his wife and five children, Dr. Phillip D. Malone (Doc), aged 73, was called home to be with his loving Father on Monday, Sept. 30, 2019.

Phillip was the beloved son of the late Donald and S. Katherine Malone.

He is survived by his devoted, loving wife, Carol Anne Malone; five children, Melissa (Ken) Flick, Melanie (Ed) Phillips, Seth Belcher, Melinda (Brian) Clymer and Luke Belcher; along with eight grandchildren, Andrew, Jacob, Samantha, Sarah, Rachel, Karlee, Jordyn and Austin. He is also survived by four brothers, Mark (Bertie) Malone, Timothy (Sheri) Malone, Gary Malone and Jonathan Malone.

For 50 years, Phillip dedicated his life to his Lord by supporting and serving others as an elder in the United Methodist Church. He pastored at Piketon United Methodist, Sciotoville UMC, Thornville/Hopewell UMC, Oregon Faith UMC, Eaton UMC, Wilmington UMC, Lattaville UMC, South Salem UMC and Fruitdale UMC. He also served as the Preble County “deputy sheriff” chaplain. His ministry is one that has touched the lives of numerous people and has encouraged many souls.

In remembrance of Phil’s life, friends can call at 4 p.m. on Friday prior to his memorial service beginning at 5 p.m. at Phillip’s Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton.

Phil’s memory is one that will forever be held dear to our hearts and we are all blessed to have known him.

“Well done, my good and faithful servant! Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give your great responsibilities. Come share your master’s joy!” Matt. 25,21.

Jared C. Murphy

Oct. 26, 1987 – Sept. 30, 2019

Jared C. Murphy, 31 of Ironton, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, Sept. 30, 2019. Jared was born Oct. 26, 1987, in Darlington, South Carolina, a son to the late Martha Carter Murphy. He is survived by his loving wife, Whitney Jones Murphy, whom he married July 8, 2017.

Jared was a 2006 graduate of Ironton High School, he was also a graduate of Morehead State University where he received a Bachelor Degree in Business Management and later received his Masters Degree in Sports Management.

Jared was loved by so many and never had an enemy. Jared was a loving husband and an amazing father. Jared was an employee for the Ironton Water Filtration Plant, he was a former employee of Kelley’s Med Care. Jared was proud to help coach his son Jaren’s T-Ball team. He was a member of Young Brillantnaires and enjoyed helping his brother Tony with Kingz of the Kourtz. He was a member of the New Jerusalem Christian Center in Ironton.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jaren and Jaxson Murphy;  daughter, Jaycee Lewis;  sixteen siblings, Bethany Carter, LaTonda Beatty, LaRondo “Pete” Carter, Calvin Carter, Brian Carter, Roxann Sudderth, Shahara Murphy, Nina Carlisle, Julia Murphy, Tara Jones, Marcus Murphy, Daniel Murphy, Kimberly Murphy, Maurice Murphy, Andre Murphy and Antonio Murphy; mother-in-law, Dianna Jones; father and mother-in-law, Mike and Cheryl Jones;  brother-in-law, Travis (Mika) Jones; three families, that were very special in Jared’s life, Birkel family, Gagai family and the Phillips family; and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends who will miss him

Funeral services will be noon Friday at New Jerusalem Christian Center, 817 S. Eighth St., Ironton, with Reverend Richard Carter and Pastor Eric Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland cemetery. Visitation will be 5 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 S. Sixth St. Ironton.

Charles Martin

Charles “Buddy” Martin, 85 of Huntington, West Virginia died Monday, Sept. 23, 2019. He is survived by his wife, Kay Frances Martin.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Madison Avenue Church of God, 1201 Madison Ave., Huntington, West Virginia.

Hall Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.
