Party switch was not honest or based in facts

When I read in The Tribune that a commissioner had switched parties, I never gave it much thought.

Then I read the reasoning and felt I needed to reply.

As a registered Democrat, I , and every Democrat I know, think abortion is a sad, heartbreaking thing

Roe vs Wade is 47 years old — a long time to believe if we just vote Republican they will do something about it. Abortion is their greatest vote getter.

Why do you think they are so against providing every childbearing woman access to a health -care provider they can afford?

Abortion could be eliminated in a short time. No one needs to be pregnant who doesn’t want to be. And the Second Amendment reasoning is no more factual.

Every Democrat I know has weapons to hunt or to defend their family and property.

But the Second Amendment doesn’t say someone with a background of mental illness or violence should be allowed to purchase all the high-powered weapons they want.

I pray every day we don’t have to experience a mass shooting in Lawrence County before we make every effort to keep guns out of the hands of those who shouldn’t have them. We can never stop every gun death, but what if we could stop one….why did we decide not to even try?

What party a person belong to makes no difference to me, but let’s be factual and honest when we explain our reasoning.
