COAL GROVE — Half a dozen of one, six of another. Either way to say it, the Coal Grove Lady Hornets are on a winning streak.
The Lady Hornets beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 12-6 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Wednesday to give them six straight wins including four in the conference.
Coal Grove pounded out 18 hits en route to the win over the Redwomen and made Kaleigh Murphy a winner. Murphy struck out five, walked one and allowed two earned runs.
Lauren Crum and Addi Dillow went 4-4 to lead the offense. Crum had a double and four runs batted in.
Emily Carpenter was 2-4 with a home run, Rylee Harmon 2-4 with a double and two RBI, Murphy 2-4 and Jaiden Griffith was 2-4 with a double and three RBI.
Rileigh Morris was 2-4 with a double and an RBI as Rock Hill had six hits. Keilie Adams was 1-3 with a double.
Coal Grove knocked off the South Point Lady Pointers 10-6 in an OVC game Tuesday.
Murphy again got the victory as she struck out seven, walked three and gave up three earned runs. She helped her own cause by going 3-5 with a home run and five RBI.
Harmon had a big game as she went 2-4 with a home run and she also had five RBI.
Amber Schwartz also had a stellar day at the plate as she went 3-4 with a double and a triple. Katie Deed was 2-4 with a double and RBI while Delaney Napier and Macy Malone were 2-4.
The Lady Hornets began the week with an 11-1 five-inning OVC win over the Chesapeake Lady Panthers on Monday.
Crum worked the first four innings for the win. She fanned one, walked three and the lone run was unearned.
Griffith swung the big stick as she went 2-3 with a home run, a double and drove in six runs.
Murphy was 4-4 with a double and Deed 1-3 with two RBI.
Chesapeake’s Katy Spears, Ryleigh Swann and Zowie Rollins were all 1-3.
