Deborah Clayton

Sept. 30, 1951 — April 8, 2019

Deborah E. (Hardy) Clayton, 67, gained her wings to heaven on Monday, April 8, 2019, leaving from Kings Daughters Medical Center.

The Ironton native was born Sept. 30, 1951, daughter of the late Thomas and Helen (Butler) Hardy. Deborah was retired from the AT&T Call Center in Grayson, Kentucky and held other positions during her lifetime, including working at Ashland Oil and the Hallmark Card Center. She was a graduate with the Ironton High School Class of 1969 and she loved NASCAR (all things Jeff Gordon), going to Disney World and reading.

She is survived by her daughter, Rachelle Clayton; granddaughter, Carleigh Holston; sister, Cindy (Hardy) McCalvin; nephew, Thomas McCalvin; niece, Helen (Sissy McCalvin) Wheeler; special cousin, Lynn Witt; and special friend, Debbie Meadows Fisher.

Keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated and a memorial service may be held in the future. Memorial donations should be directed to Cindy McCalvin, 1745 Phillip St., Ironton, OH 45638 to help with final expenses.

David John Cook

March 5, 1949 — April 6, 2019

David John Cook, 70, of Columbus, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Arlington Court in Columbus.

David was born March 5, 1949, in Ironton, to the late John Elmer and Mildred Schwamberger Cook. David served in the U.S. Army as a medic during the Vietnam conflict. He worked as a truck driver for Mike’s Trucking. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion and he was of the Catholic faith.

David is survived by his wife, Judy Ann Brown Cook, whom he married July 12, 1969 in Wheelersburg. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Paul Brown.

Military graveside services, conducted by the James Dickey Post #23, American Legion, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Haverhill Cemetery.

Wendell Fischer

Wendell Ray Fischer, 68, of Proctorville, died Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Fischer.

Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton, West Virginia.

Shirley Artrip

Shirley Kay Berry Artrip, 60, of Huntington West Virginia, died at Emogene Dolin Hospice House of Huntington.

She is survived by her husband, Doug Artrip.

There will be no funeral service, but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is in charge of arrangements.
