On Friday, Ohio University Southern’s Proctorville Center hosted its annual women’s conference.
Now in its eighth year, the event drew about 170 attendees to take part in several hours of workshops and enjoy a luncheon.
This year’s keynote speaker was Amy Compston, a missionary and founder of Amy for Africa, a nonprofit which raises money for schools in Uganda.
Compston shared her story of overcoming drug and alcohol addiction in her teenage and young adult years to use the marathons she runs to bring in funds for better education in a part of the world where it is needed.
Sessions throughout the day offered a variety of topics, with speakers discussing women in business, health and wellness, mindfulness and the equine program at OUS.
The organizers have done a great job in putting this event together, with the help of several community sponsors.
We encourage everyone to stay tuned and plan to attend next year’s conference, where they will find inspiration and learn about many outstanding women from our region.
