SOUTH POINT — It was bounce back time again for the South Point Pointers, and they bounced really high.
For the second time this season, the Pointers suffered a lop-sided loss. And for the second time, they bounced back with a strong performance as they beat the Rock Hill Redmen 60-37 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Friday.
Chance Gunther acted as though he was hired to be the bouncer as he scored 30 points that included four 3-pointers. He also had a pair of assists.
Austin Webb scored 12 points while Marcus Malone had six rebounds, two assists and three steals for the Pointers (8-11, 5-7).
Rock Hill (3-14, 0-12) was led by Garrett Miller with 11 points and Logan Hankins scored nine.
South Point led 13-8 after the first quarter as Gunther scored 10 points.
Four different players made baskets for the Redmen.
Gunther hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points while Webb had six points and Brody Blackwell knocked down a 3-pointer to give the Pointers a comfortable 36-20 halftime lead.
Hankins hit a 3-pointer and had five points with Miller scoring four.
The Pointers pulled away to a 53-27 lead after three quarters as Gunther hit another 3-pointer and scored nine points and Webb added four more.
Miller hit a trey for Rock Hill.
Both teams emptied their benches in the fourth quarter as Rock Hill went 6-of-7 at the foul line and outscored the Pointers 10-7.
Rock Hill hosts Coal Grove on Saturday and St. Joseph on Tuesday. South Point entertains Gallipolis on Tuesday.
