Lawrence County under Level 1 snow emergency

Around noon on Friday, Sheriff Jeff Lawless declared a Level 1 snow emergency for Lawrence County. That means that roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow, roads may be icy. People are cautioned to drive with care.
The Ohio Department of Transportation has crews plowing and treating the state highway system.
ODOT reports that pavement conditions range from partly or mostly snow covered in areas where up to two inches of snow has fallen to clear and wet where there has been little to no precipitation thus far. However, from snow to freezing rain, there is the chance for additional precipitation and although routes have been treated with de-icing materials, temperatures are below freezing, so ice may form on routes that are wet or where there is freezing rain.
Motorists need to use additional caution, especially when traveling over bridges and overpasses, in curves and on hills, and they are reminded that from mile to mile and minute to minute, conditions can change quickly and without warning.
