Ironton Kiwanis, Lawrence County Health Department collecting donations
The Ironton Kiwanis Club, along with the Lawrence County Health Department, is conducting its ‘No Bottoms Left Behind’ diaper drive to assist mothers who can’t afford diapers.
Without diapers, babies aren’t able to participate in early childhood education programs, which leave parents unable to go to work. One in three mothers in the United States report suffering from a need of diapers. On average, diapers can cost between $70 and $80 a month, with a baby needing about six to 10 diapers per day.
The Ironton Kiwanis Club is also working with the Lawrence County Health Department to establish a local diaper bank.
If you are interested in making a monetary donation to the diaper drive, contributions can be sent to P.O. Box 4192, Ironton, OH 45638. The club will then go shopping for diapers, which will be dropped off at the county health department.
