Children packed the activity room at the Briggs Lawrence County Library in Ironton on Wednesday for an art project, led by librarian Jan Gullett.
Gullett taught the children to draw, and then paint, a winter cardinal on a branch with falling snow.
She said the library has children’s activities every month, with an art activity every so often, which she added was very popular with the kids.
Upcoming library children’s activities include a new Anime/Manga club for children ages 10-18, with a goal to become a member-directed club. Those interested in joining may read and discuss current and classic Manga, watch Anime movies and short films and enjoy a variety of Anime and Manga related activities. The first session will be 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24 at the Ironton Library.
The Symmes Valley branch of the library will also have its monthly LEGO club for children and families at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22.
On Wednesday, Jan. 23, children in grades K-3 are invited to the Chesapeake branch to make snowflake crafts with pipe cleaners and beads.
Another art activity for children 6 and up to draw and paint a winter cardinal will take place at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23 at the South Point branch. Space is limited for the art activity, and parents should visit the Ironton Library or call 740-377-2288 to sign up.
Preschool Storytime and Toddler Time programs also take place at the various branches, and are as follows:
• Storytime for ages 3-5; 11 a.m. Tuesday in Proctorville, 11 a.m. Wednesday in South Point, 11 a.m. Thursday in Chesapeake, and 3 p.m. Thursday in Symmes Valley.
• Toddler Time for ages 2-3; 11 a.m. Tuesday in Ironton.
