FRANKLIN FURNACE — After the Green Bobcats got off to a good start, the New Boston Tigers got going.
Green took a first quarter lead before New Boston caught fire and went on to post a 75-57 Southern Ohio Conference win over the Bobcats on Tuesday.
Green (5-4, 2-2) took a 16-13 lead as Gage Sampson scored eight points and Tayte Carver had seven points including a 3-pointer.
But Kyle Sexton had nine points, Tyler Caldwell seven points including a trey and Grady Jackson six points with a 3-pointer as New Boston outscored Green 26-11 in the second quarter and took a 39-27 halftime advantage.
Sampson — who had seven of Green’s 11 points in the second quarter — scored eight more in the third quarter but that didn’t slow down the Tigers who scored 24 points and extended the lead to 63-42.
Jackson had another 3-pointer and scored nine points and Marcus Sanders added six more in the third quarter offensive explosion.
Sampson finished with a game-high 29 points while Carver added 14 points for the Bobcats who are still without the injury long-range shooting of Tanner Kimbler.
Sexton poured in 25 points for New Boston (5-2, 4-0) while Jackson scored 17, Sanders 16 and Caldwell 13.
Green visits Western on Friday.
