Community buys gifts for Angel Tree project
AID — Families in the Symmes Valley school district will be having a brighter Christmas, thanks to the efforts of their students in the district.
The Beta Club, an honors and service organization at the high school with 29 members, put up an Angel Tree, as they have done since 2003.
Angels on the tree are inscribed with the name of a student in the district in need and the community then purchases gifts for that child.
“We start with needs, Jennifer Forbush, who sponsors the club with Ruth Hopkins, said. “Then we move on to wants.”
In total, 56 gifts were purchased.
“It’s been a learning experience,” Chad Morris, with the club, said.
The Beta Club has other activities scheduled for this year, such as a volleyball tournament at the school in the spring, which will raise funds for meals at the Ronald McDonald House.
