Community, Law Enforcement awards given to agency by Keep Ohio Beautiful
The Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste Management District received two awards from Keep Ohio Beautiful, an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, last week in Columbus.
The district received the Keep Ohio Beautiful Community Award for the category of populations between 25,0001-150,000. The other two Community Awards were for populations less than 25,000 and about 150,000.
“We’re very pleased to be acknowledged by Keep America Beautiful for all the work that we do throughout the year,” district director Dan Palmer said. “It really means a lot to us.”
The district last received the Keep Ohio Beautiful Community Award in 2011.
In addition to the Community Award, district law enforcement officer Steve Hileman received the Keep Ohio Beautiful Law Enforcement Award, the only one of its kind.
“I’m very happy to receive this award, and very appreciative of Keep Ohio Beautiful,” Hileman said. “And I’m also very appreciative of the support that Dan Palmer offers to me everyday, and the support of Lawrence and Scioto counties.”
Hileman added that the district has never been a recipient of the Law Enforcement Award before.
Present at the ceremony were Palmer, Hileman and district community outreach coordinator Stephanie Helms.
