Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson aren’t the only ones who are going “On The Road Again.”
Area football teams will be on the road this Saturday night when the Ohio High School Athletic Association quarterfinal round of the postseason playoffs get underway.
In Division V, the Ironton Fighting Tigers (6-4) are the No. 8 seed and will play at No. 1 seed Johnston-Monroe (9-1).
The Fairland Dragons (6-4) are headed to St. Clairsville (10-0) in Division IV.
Back in the playoffs for the first time since 1990 are the Green Bobcats (7-2) who travel to Canal Winchester World Harvest (9-0) in a Division VII game.
All games begin at 7 p.m.
If Ironton wins, the Fighting Tigers would play the winner of Bellaire (7-3) and Martins Ferry (7-3) at a neutral site, probably Athens, Logan or Nelsonville-York.
A Fairland victory would match the Dragons against the winner of Chillicothe Unioto (7-3) and Bloom-Carroll (8-2).
In the event Green wins, the Bobcats would advance to a Region 27 semifinal game against the winner of Glouster Trimble (9-1) and Lancaster Fisher Catholic (6-3).
Besides Ironton and Fairland, two other Ohio Valley Conference teams qualified for the playoffs and will be playing on Saturday.
The No. 7 seed Portsmouth Trojans (7-3) visit No. 2 seed Mansfield Madison (10-0) in Division IV while the No. 2 seed Gallipolis Blue Devils (9-1) host No. 7 Licking Valley (7-3).
