Bluegrass band No Tools Loaned, from central Kentucky, is set to perform a concert Saturday at Ohio University Southern, part of the Ironton Council for the Arts 2018-2019 subscription concert series.
The band touts itself as a fresh new approach to bluegrass music, and is supported by a group of accomplished musicians and songwriters using traditional acoustic bluegrass instruments, including guitar, mandolin, banjo and upright bass.
The band appears frequently at popular bluegrass and folk festivals in Kentucky and the surrounding region. Their unique mix of original songs, new bluegrass tunes, classic rock and folk ballads, and western swing numbers put a fresh face on traditional bluegrass sound.
“This Frankfurt-based bluegrass band has a style that is uniquely No Tools Loaned,” a review in the May 2008 issue of Bluegrass Unlimited stated about the band. “Combining classic bluegrass standards with some unique and intriguing original songs, No Tools Loaned has something for everyone to enjoy.”
The concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Bowman Auditorium at Ohio University Southern.
Without a subscription to the concert series, admission is $10 at the door, and Ohio University students are permitted free with a student ID.
