People driving in and out of Ironton on the Oakley C. Collins Memorial Bridge will be happy to know that the crews doing the annual inspection have finished early and the bridge will be open to day time traffic on Thursday.
The work was expected to be completed on Friday.
The Ohio Department of Transportation said in press release on Wednesday afternoon that the inspectors from the ODOT District 9 and Central Office bridge departments had been working to complete a series of routine inspections of the bridge’s cables, towers and deck this week and although crews were scheduled to be working through Friday, the inspection team worked ahead of the four-day schedule and expedited operations to complete the full inspection in two days. As a result, it will not be necessary to close the structure Thursday or Friday.
