CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Reds today announced the promotion of cross checker Brad Meador to Director of Amateur Scouting.
Meador (pronounced MED-or) joined the organization as an area supervisor in September 2009 and spent the last 2 years as the Reds’ Midwest cross checker. Eight of the last 13 players he signed are still active in professional baseball, including 2016 top pick IF Nick Senzel, and 6 players reached at least Class AAA.
He joined the University of Cincinnati staff in September 1999 and spent 10 years with the Bearcats as associate head coach under Brian Cleary. Before going to work on UC’s staff, Meador spent 2 seasons as an assistant coach at New Mexico State University.
While at UC and as a professional scout, Meador signed or coached more than 50 players who went on to be drafted or signed by a Major League team, including Senzel, Kevin Youkilis, Josh Harrison, Tony Campana, Jon Niese and Ryan LaMarre.
