Party in the Park begins today

Event to take place at South Point village park
SOUTH POINT — The 2018 Party in the Park kicks off today in South Point’s village park, with fireworks scheduled for Saturday.
The event is sponsored by People for the Point and will feature a variety of activities and entertainment, a car show, a petting zoo and food vendors.
Schedule is as follows:
Friday, July 6
• 7 p.m. – South Point’s Got Talent
• 9 p.m. – Light up the Village 5k Glow Run/Walk begins
Saturday, July 7
• 9 a.m. – noon – Car/Bike show registration, show will run from noon- 3 p.m., followed by awards
• Noon – High Noon Shootout Powerwheels race for all ages
• 2 p.m. – Cornhole tournament
• 11 a.m. – 3 p.m – Free pony rides
A free petting zoo, will be set up all day, courtesy of the BARKer Farm. Free barrel train rides, inflatables and games children are also scheduled.
Main stage for Saturday:
• 11 a.m. – noon – Music by Dangerous Cookies
• 1-1:45 p.m. – Snak Shak Hot Dog eating Contest
• 2-2:45 p.m. – Music by Creek Don’t Rise
• 3-3:30 p.m. – Car show awards
• 3:30-4:15 p.m. – Music by Creek Don’t Rise
• 4:15-4:45 p.m. – BARKer Shop patriotic dog show
• 5:15-7 p.m. – Music by Don Rigsby and the Fly by Nights
• 7:15-8:15 p.m. – Local talent show winner from Friday
• 8:45-10:15 p.m. – Music by Julie Reeves and Chris Davis
• 10:15 p.m. – Fireworks on the river
