Community Plane Ride Day set for Saturday
SOUTH POINT — Those who would like a view of the region from the air will get a chance on Saturday.
Community Plane Ride Day is set to begin at 9 a.m. at the Lawrence County Airpark, located 9654 County Road 1, and will run until 5 p.m. or until the crowd dissipates.
“It’s a fundraiser for improvements to the airport,” Jessica Shaw, chief flight instructor for Attitude Aviation, said. “We’re offering scenic plane rides down the Ohio River, toward the Proctorville bridge and back.”
Shaw said the airport offers the event twice a year. In addition to plane rides, the Girl Scouts will be selling food and Tri-State Street Rods will have cars on display.
Shaw said the cost of plane rides is $30 for adults and $5 for children under seven, who must be accompanied by a paying adult.
The event is sponsored by Tri-State Pilot Association and Air Owner Pilot Association.
