OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The Cincinnati Reds acquired Tampa Bay Rays minor league catcher Curt Casali on Thursday for cash.
Casali batted .199 with 19 home runs and 49 RBIs in 161 games over four seasons with the Rays.
The 29-year-old was hitting .274 with four home runs and 20 RBIs this year for Triple-A Durham.
To make room on the major league roster, catch Tony Cruz was optioned to Class AAA Louisville.
