A great offering for kids

This Saturday, Special Needs Youth Sportsman will host a fishing event for children and their families.
Free of charge, the occasion allows for those facing disabilities the chance to get out into the outdoors and enjoy an activity they may not otherwise get the opportunity to do.
In order to participate, all the families have to do is show up at Tractor Supply in South Point at 7:30 a.m. to join the caravan to the fishing site.
Equipment is provided at no cost, and lunch is served.
Earlier this month, The Tribune spoke with mothers of special needs children about challenges they faced. And Special Needs Youth Sportsman received praise for what they offer here in Lawrence County.
In addition to the fishing event, the group also hosted a survival camp session earlier this year, teaching children how to do tasks such as building a camp fire.
We commend Mike Finley, with the group, for organizing these efforts and are glad to spread the word as to what the group offers.
We encourage anyone who knows a child with special needs to let their families know about this weekend’s activities.
