The Green Bobcats took advantage of 11 walks and six hit batters as they rolled past the Symmes Valley Vikings 17-2 in a Southern Ohio Conference game on Wednesday.
“We were the beneficiaries of walks and hit batters, but we got some key hits and big three-run home from Caden Brammer,” said Green coach Dan McDavid.
Tayte Carver pitched a four-hitter, struck out eight and walked three to get the win.
Green (9-1, 6-0) took a 5-0 lead in the first inning.
Rylee Maynard was hit by a pitch, Carver double for an RBI, Levi Singleton was hit, Mason Barber walked, and Hayden Whittis was hit by a pitch for a run, Eli Webb singled for a run and a throwing error scored the final run.
Two runs scored in the second, Carver walked, was balked to second and scored on a deep sacrifice fly to center by Bryce Ponn. Singleton singled, Barber walked and Whittis doubled home a run.
The Vikings got a run in the third when Griffin Hill and Layken Gothard walked, and Nick Klaiber and Hunter Adams singled.
Green got two runs in the bottom of the inning to lead 9-1.
Maynard and Tanner Kimbler, Carver had an RBI single and a throwing error scored a run.
The Bobcats put the game out of reached with eight runs in the fourth.
Barber and Whittis walked and Brammer belted a three-run homer.
Derrick Brown walked, Jacob McKenzie was hit by a pitch, Garrett Daniels walked to load the bases, Joe Webb was hit by a pitch for a run, Mason Hensley walked for a run, and Dustin Sprouse had an RBI single.
Aaron Vance walked for a run and Wylie Sanders was hit by a pitch to force home the final run.
The Vikings got a run in the fifth when Gothard and Brace walked and Adams doubled.
Carver was 2-2 with a double as Green had eight hits.
Adams was 2-3 with a double and two RBI for the Vikings.
Symmes Valley host St. Joseph on Thursday and Green goes to Sciotoville East.
