LATHAM — Western pitchers made things easy for the Green Bobcats.
Tanner Kimbler didn’t reciprocate.
Kimbler pitched a one-hitter and struck out 12 batters as the Bobcats routed the Western Indians 16-0 in a five-inning Southern Ohio Conference game on Wednesday.
Kimbler did not walk a batter and the only hit was a two-out infield roller in the first inning.
“We got a good effort out of Tanner Kimbler. He gave a workmanlike effort.,” said Green coach Dan McDavid. “We got all 17 players in the game.”
The Bobcats combined nine hits and 14 walks to generate most of the offense.
Green (6-1, 3-0) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Kimbler was hit by a pitch, Tayte Carver singled, a balk and a sacrifice fly by Bryce Ponn. Levi Singleton, Hayden Whittis and Mason Barber all walked to force in a run.
The lead went to 4-0 in the third.
Carver, Ponn and Singleton all walked to load the bases and Barber hit a sacrifice fly. Caden Brammer doubled in the second run.
The Bobcats blew the game open with eight runs in the fourth.
Rylee Maynard walked and Carver had an RBI double. Ponn singled in Carver and it was 6-0.
Singleton had a hit, Whittis was hit by a pitch and Brammer walked to force home a run. Eli Webb singled to score two runs and Maynard singled for a run.
Kimbler walked and Carver beat out an infield hit, Ponn walked to force in the final run of the inning and it was 12-0.
McDavid emptied the bench as Green scored four times in the fifth.
Ethan Carpenter walked, Wiley Sanders and Derrick Brown were both hit by a pitch to load the bases and Carter McKenzie walked to drive in a run.
Joe Webb, Drake Moughey and Jacob McKenzie all walked to drive in a run.
Carver went 3-for-3 with a double and Eli Webb was 2-3. Barber drove in three runs without a hit.
Green hosts Western on Friday.
