PEDRO — Rock Hill Redmen coach Barry Litteral bumped up his No. 3 starter one day. When Logan Hankins was finished, he might get bumped up a couple more notches.
Hankins fired a one-hitter and did not allow a runner past second base as the Redmen blanked the Green Bobcats 5-0 on Tuesday in the second day of the Wooden Bat Classic.
Hankins struck out 11 and walked one in going the distance.
“Hankins threw well. They were behind him the whole game,” said Litteral. “He struck out nine of 13 batters from the number five spot on down in the lineup. He was really sharp.”
Tanner Kimbler singled in the first inning for the Bobcats’ lone hit.
The Redmen (2-0) got all the runs they need when they scored twice in the second inning.
Cody Lewis singled with two outs, Kaleb Kidd and Hankins walked and Kaden France belted a two-run double.
The score remained that way until Rock Hill got three runs in the sixth.
Landon Smith walked, Kidd singled, Hankins had a sacrifice bunt and France was walked intentionally to load the bases.
Jaret Bacorn doubled home two runs and Brayden Friend singled in the final run.
Bacorn finished 1-3 with three runs batted in.
