The Southeast Ohio District Athletic Board recognized Missy Gorby of the Fairland school district as the 2017-18 Friend of Youth Award recipient. To be eligible for the award, a person must be a scorekeeper, timer announcer, chain crew or physician/medical volunteer of a member school for at least 20 years, be of reputable character and serve the school in the aforementioned capacity in a manner that typifies a giving spirit toward young people. Gorby has kept the score book for various sports for 37 years. She has worked more than 1,000 basketball games for boys and girls as well as football and baseball. Missy is pictured above with her brother Jeff Gorby who is also the school’s athletic director. Jeff said Missy “goes above and beyond what you ask of her.
