ASHLAND — Today is National Chili Day and an Ashland restaurant is celebrating with an initiative to help fight hunger in the Ashland area.
Gold Star Chili Ashland, located at 24 Russell Plaza Dr., will be making a donation to the Ashland Community Kitchen for every 3-way purchased today.
The donations will be of equal value to the purchase of its signature item, made at the location between their business hours of 10 a.m. and 10 p.m.
The 3-Way combines three layers, starting with hot spaghetti, covered with Cincinnati-style Chili, and topped with freshly shredded cheddar cheese.
“National Chili Day is a fun day to celebrate with our customers, and it’s also a great opportunity to make a difference in our community,” Zach Harper, general manager of Gold Star Chili Ashland, said. “We’re excited to support the Ashland Community Kitchen.”
The Ashland Community Kitchen, part of the Neighborhood facilities in downtown Ashland, serves approximately 150 meals each day, five days a week and prepares food for its Meals on Wheels partnership with Kings’ Daughters Medical Center.
“We hope the community will come out to enjoy a 3-Way at Gold Star Chili on National Chili Day here in Ashland and know that, by doing so, they will be helping provide hot meals for people who really do need them,” Todd Young, executive director of Ashland Community Kitchen, said. “We are incredibly thankful to Gold Star Chili for its support.”
