Rock Hill, Symmes Valley classes canceled for Thursday due to security concerns

UPDATE: Classes at Symmes Valley schools have also been canceled for Thursday.
A message on the school district’s Facebook page, posted late Wednesday night, reads, “This proactive measure is being taken to allow law enforcement time to fully investigate threats made on social media toward some area schools including Symmes Valley. Due to the late hour we will issue an automated phone message in the morning regarding the cancellation.”

Classes at Rock Hill schools have been canceled for Thursday, after school officials said a threat against the school was posted on social media.
Board member Paul David Knipp posted about the cancellation on his Facebook page, in regards to a threat, originally posted on Snapchat and picked up across other social media.
“In reference to the threat being spread on Facebook, law enforcement has been notified and has taken action,” he said. “Person identified.”
He said, as the matter was looked into, school officials decided to cancel classes for Thursday.
“Based on the investigation, there may be more involved,” Knipp said. “School is cancelled out of an abundance of caution.”
