FRANKLIN FURNACE — The offensive minded Green Bobcats relied more on their defense this time.
Green turned in a strong defensive effort and beat the South Webster Jeeps 64-50 on Tuesday.
“Our effort on the defensive end continues to improve each and every game. We did a great job staying in front and making them take tough shots,” said Green coach Dirk Hollar.

“Murphy got hot in the first half but in the second we did a better job making sure he didn’t get loose. He did a couple times but we were lucky enough he missed. Witter was killing us on the boards, too. We knew they’d be very physical with us but my boys didn’t let it affect them.”
Tanner Kimbler scored 21 points while Tayte Carver and Gage Sampson scored 19 each to lead the Bobcats.
“When those 3 are scoring like that and the rest of our players are playing their roles we are really hard to beat,” said Hollar.
Levi Murphy and Devyn Coriell had 11 each for the Jeeps.
Green took a 22-11 first quarter lead as Sampson scored eight points, Carver hit a 3-pointer and scored seven while Kimbler also had a 3-pointer and scored five points.
Murphy hit two 3-pointers for the Jeeps.
South Webster cut the deficit to 34-24 at the half as Witter and Murphy scored five points each and Coriell hit a 3-pointer.
Kimbler kept the Bobcats ahead with nine points including a 3-pointer.
Sampson scored six points and Carver four in the third quarter as Green went up 48-37. Coriell had six for the Jeeps.
Kimbler and Carver each made 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and the Bobcats converted 8-of-8 from the foul line — four by Sampson and two each by Kimbler and Carver.
Andrew Smith made a 3-poitner and scored five points for the Jeeps.
