Performance to take place at First Presbyterian
A concert featuring the Athenia Chamber Ensemble, a faculty woodwind ensemble-in-residence at Ohio University in Athens, will take place at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church of Ironton.
The ensemble’s founding members, Alison Brown Sincoff (flute), Michele Fiala (oboe) and Matthew Morris (bassoon), established the trio in 2009, and have collectively performed in the United States, Canada, Europe, Russia, Japan, Panama and Argentina.
The trio was the featured ensemble at the 2011, 2014 and 2016 International Double Reed Society Conferences and the 2016 National Flute Association’s annual convention. They also strive to break down the traditional formalities of the concert experience to create a more open and enriching experience that closes the gap between the audience and the performer, and each member is dedicated to discovering additional works for the instrumentation and promoting the composition of new music.
Admission to the concert on Sunday is $10, and tickets can be purchased at the door. Ohio University students are admitted free with a student ID.
The First Presbyterian Church of Ironton is located at 201 N. Fifth St.
