Lawrence County law enforcement volunteers are planning to have a Shop with a Cop program in mid-December and are raffling a rifle and large screen television to raise funds.
The goal of the program is so that less fortunate children in Lawrence County can have an enjoyable Christmas while having a positive interaction with law enforcement officers from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Lawrence County Adult Probation Department, the Ironton Police Department and volunteers from all village law agencies.
The Shop with a Cop program coordinators are working to raise funds in an effort to be able to provide an opportunity 40 children from around the county to have a brighter Christmas.
After shopping on Dec. 18, the kids and their families will get to visit Santa Claus at the South Point Ponderosa.
To do that, they will be raffling tickets for a chance to win a Henry Golden Boy .22 caliber rifle and a flatscreen television. Tickets are available by contacting local law officers or tickets can be purchased during the event at the South Point Walmart. The drawing will be on Dec. 18 after the shopping concludes.
Any questions can be directed to OSHP Trooper Derek Malone at 740-377-4312 or the Lawrence County Sheriff Deputy John Chapman at 740-532-3525.
